The incident reportedly occurred on the night of April 29 when the woman had booked an Ola cab to travel from Kolkata airport to her home in Khardah. According to the complaint lodged by the woman, the Ola driver had made lewd comments to her over the phone during an argument over the fare.
Upon receiving the complaint, the NSCBI airport police began an investigation into the matter. The police were able to identify the accused driver as Chandan Kumar Yadav, and he was subsequently arrested upon his arrival at Kolkata airport on May 6.
The arrest of Yadav has been welcomed by many, who have praised the police for taking swift action in response to the woman's complaint. The incident has once again highlighted the need for stricter laws and regulations to ensure the safety and security of women who use ride-hailing services.
